On March 14, 2014, the management team of Politeknik Ungku Omar, Malaysia visited the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) to be familiar with the programs, activities, and facilities of CPSC and the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC). The delegation was composed of Mejar (K) Dato’ Hj. Md. Nor Bin Yusof, Director; Mr. Muhammad Zubir bin Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Director for Academics; Mr. Mohd. Azhar bin Mohd. Shafie, Deputy Director for Academic Support, and Mr. Tan Sui Chee, Senior Lecturer.

Through a formal reception and meeting at the conference room, CPSC Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub led the CPSC team in welcoming the group. The program started with the Welcome Remarks by the Director General followed by the Special Remarks by the Honorable Director of PUO who was also the former Director General of Department of Polytechnic Education, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. In his speech, Mejar (K) Dato’ Hj. Md. Nor Bin Yusof recognized the amount of work done by CPSC in the area of education and training and also thanked CPSC for the warm reception.

To highlight the vision, mission, thrust areas, and activities of CPSC in a visual and concise manner, the in-house prepared video briefer presentation was shown.

A provider of education and training equipment, Hytec Power, Inc. was invited by CPSC to showcase educational exhibits that aim to foster awareness and knowledge in green technologies. Engr. Eric Jude S. Soliman and Ms. Cherilyn Vergara-Blay, President and Sales and Training Admin Manager of Hytec Power, respectively, were in attendance along with other Hytec Power staff.

During the tour of facilities, CPSC showcased its facilities and best practices in integrating ICT in TVET education particularly the On-COURSE or the Online Course Ubiquitous Realtime System of Education (formerly named Web-based Teaching and Learning System or WBTLS) and the Online Journal System. A lively discussion ensued at the APACC room.

PUO was visited by APACC accreditors in February 2014 to assess conformance to the seven APACC criteria which are Governance and Management, Teaching and Learning, Faculty and Staff, Research and Development, Extension, Consultancy and Linkages, Resources, and Support to Students.
