Despite the challenges brought upon by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has hampered travel and face-to-face interaction among people, the Colombo Plan Staff College has continued in using its existing learning management system combined with the latest technology to reach out to its stakeholders during this very difficult crisis.

Thus, it successfully held a Regional Program on Strengthening TVET Instructional Management System using online channels last July 13-17, 2020 with the whole proceedings were conducted via Zoom. A total of 159 participants from Bangladesh, Bhutam, Fiji, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, as well as from CPSC’s partner organizations such as the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB), Diploma Engineers Association of Nepal (DEAN) and IRPC Technical College Thailand (IRPCT) attended the program.

The 5-day online regional program equipped the TVET teachers with instructional strategies, methods, and instructional skills together with the planning skills, test items development skills, and supervision & monitoring skills. This regional program aims to provide in-depth knowledge and skills on instructional management and high impact classroom delivery.

During the five days of online interaction, the participants were able to understand the concept of instructional management. They were able to develop an instructional design and lesson plan. They were also able to apply and implement an effective online instruction, as well as understand the supervision and monitoring of teaching processes. One of their outputs also involved the development of assessment and evaluation plan and test Items.

Overall program supervision was managed by the Director General, Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane while the main coordination and resources were provided by CPSC Faculty Specialist, Engr. Sanyog Bhattarai. Another Faculty Specialist from CPSC, Engr. Abdul Ghani Rajput, was also invited to the program as a resource speaker.

The program was highly appreciated by the participants for its design, relevance and effectiveness. It has gained an overall rating of 94.57% out of 100%.
