As the organization revitalizes both its existing and new partnerships in the local and international scenes, the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) delegation embarked on a courtesy visit to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on October 07, 2025. The visit marked a significant step in continuing the dialogue and collaboration between the two institutions, paving the way for stronger cooperation in advancing shared education and development goals.
During the visit, Prof. (Dr.) Suresh K. Dhameja, Director General of CPSC, formally presented the institution’s mission and core initiatives to Hon. Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, the newly designated Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Philippines, and to Hon. Maria Teresa T. Almojuela, Assistant Secretary of DFA-United Nations and International Organizations (UNIO).
Accompanied by Ms. Arlene O. Cruz, Executive Secretary of CPSC, Dr. Dhameja also discussed the Staff College’s ongoing regional initiatives and collaborative efforts with its member countries, underscoring CPSC’s active role in promoting educational cooperation across the region. This includes the conduct of the Skills Development Training on Emerging Trends on Electric Vehicle (EV) and Advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) for Bhutanese TVET Professionals which is a joint initiative between the two organizations. Through the initiation and support of the DFA-UNIO, this significant venture on capacity development of TVET professionals of the Government of Bhutan is now being organized by CPSC, and is being held in the Philippines from October 13-24, 2025.
The DFA-UNIO team headed by Assec Almojuela (second fr. right) encouraged the CPSC delegation to continue pursuing partnership and collaboration especially with the DFA and the Philippine government in order to further expand the organization’s potential in championing TVET in the region
With this, the DFA leadership affirmed their support to CPSC as they actively shared their valuable insights and worthy recommendations that will further enhance the collaboration between CPSC and the Philippine government.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with both parties expressing their keen interest and optimism in pursuing more areas of collaboration in the field as we strengthen diplomatic relations and foster greater cooperation in support of regional TVET development.
