
The Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS), Malaysia has been officially awarded with the Platinum Level Accreditation, the highest status granted by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).
The results were deliberated during the APACC Board Meeting held on July 3, 2025, chaired by the APACC President, Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja. The results were presented by the assigned accreditation team, composed of Engr. Marjorie Mendenilla (Lead Accreditor), Prof. Naeem Yaqoob (Member Accreditor), and Ms. Stephanie Rimas (Documentation Officer).
This evaluation, conducted from May 6 to 8, 2025, marked the third cycle of accreditation for PIS. This assessed the institution’s performance against APACC’s seven accreditation criteria: (1) Governance and Management, (2) Teaching and Learning, (3) Human Resources, (4) Research and Development, (5) Image and Sustainability, (6) Other Resources, and (7) Support to Students.

The three-day evaluation commenced with a warm welcome from the PIS community accompanied by a marching band. During the opening ceremony, PIS Director Hj. Ulaimi bin Yahya extended his greetings to the APACC accreditation team and delivered his welcome remarks. In his opening message, Director Ulaimi provided an overview of the institution and presented its academic programs, accreditations and certifications received, institutional collaborations and linkages, as well as its recent accomplishments. Likewise, Prof. Dr. Dhameja recognized the polytechnic’s dedication to continuous improvement and quality assurance for TVET education.
The National Coordinator for Accreditation in Malaysia and Senior Lecturer at the Politeknik Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PSA), Pn. Noaryanti binti Mohd Noor, also showed her support to PIS through her esteemed presence during the accreditation.






A tour of facilities ensued after the opening ceremony to showcase PIS’ infrastructure and learning resources. Among the facilities that were visited include the Wellness Center; School Library; smart classrooms called Technology Enabled Collaborative Classrooms (TECC); workplace-based labs such as 2D Lab and I-TECH Lab for Mechanical Engineering; Health Care Center; Cafeteria; dormitories; Sports Center, and Create Design Center (CDEC).

Following the tour, the accreditors conducted interviews with the PIS team and reviewed evidentiary documents to assess its compliance with the APACC indicators and vis-Ã -vis its submitted Self-Study Report (SSR). The evaluation team also cross-checked the actions taken from the recommendations given during the second cycle of accreditation held in 2018.
Finally, Lead Accreditor Engr. Mendenilla delivered the initial commendations, affirmations, and recommendations during the exit meeting. These were all based on the thorough assessment done by both accreditors during the interviews. The accreditation team also expressed their sincere gratitude to PIS for their warm hospitality and smooth coordination throughout the three-day accreditation.

The Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS) has become the fourth institution in Malaysia to receive the Platinum-level accreditation. This reflects PIS’ outstanding commitment to excellence, quality assurance, and continuous improvement in TVET.
