


A total of 30 TVET practitioners, trainers, managers, administrators, and officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Myanmar joined the Online In-Country Program on Entrepreneurship / Technopreneurship Development in TVET from March 17 to 21, 2025 via Zoom platform. This joint-program was conducted by the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DTVET), MOST-Myanmar, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, CPSC Director General; Dr. Htay Thwin, DTVET Director General; and Dr. Maw Maw Tun, DTVET Director for Research Section. The program was also managed by Prof. Naeem Yaqoob, CPSC Faculty Specialist; and Ms. Mya Yadanar Soe, DTVET Staff Officer for Foreign Relations Section, who both served as Program Coordinators.
Throughout the five-day program, CPSC and DTVET shared expertise on entrepreneurship that can be integrated into the teaching curricula through lectures and workshops conducted by the assigned resource persons. With this, the participants were expected to explore innovative teaching strategies, emerging technologies, and incubation models in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.


During the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Dhameja and Dr. Nyan Win Than, DTVET Deputy Director General delivered their welcome remarks to officially mark the beginning of the program. In their speech, Prof. Dr. Dhameja gave a brief background on the topics and trends related to entrepreneurship and technopreneurship. He also expressed his appreciation to DTVET and CPSC, especially to the Training and ICT Divisions for its full support to successful conduct of TVET training programs. Likewise, Dr. Nyan Win thanked CPSC for organizing the training program for Myanmar, and expressed his hope for continued future collaborations between CPSC and DTVET.

The program inauguration also featured Hon. San Yu Kyaw, Chargé d'Affaires/Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Philippines, who was honored as the Chief Guest of the inaugural program. As the Minister Counsellor thanked CPSC, he reiterated the longstanding commitment of CPSC to the development of Myanmar’s TVET, and also wished that the program would prepare the participants for employment and setting up their own businesses.

The five-day program consisted of lectures and workshops, including a special lecture on “Entrepreneurship and Technopreneurship Development in TVET in the Asia-Pacific Region” discussed by CPSC DG Prof. Dr. Dhameja.





Various resource speakers such as Engr. Parmod Kumar Singla, Associate Professor at the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR)-Chandigarh; Dr. Sanjeev Chaddha, Professor and Head of Management Development Centre at the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab, India; Dr. Niraj Bala, Professor and Head at NITTTR-Chandigarh; and Ms. Chit Aein Thu, Executive Member and Entrepreneurship Development Committee Member at Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association, shared their expertise on entrepreneurship in their respective presentations of theme papers. To supplement the lectures, the participants were also engaged in workshops focusing on curriculum design, institutional ecosystem design, and designing project rubrics.


The program concluded on March 21, 2025, with three selected participants sharing their insights from the five-day training. This was followed by a Program Summary from Prof. Naeem, who also delivered his closing remarks. Another message from Dr. Nyan Win was also delivered at the end of the program wherein he congratulated the participants for completing the training program and extended his gratitude towards the Program Organizers. Overall, the objectives of the program were achieved, marking another successful training program for Myanmar.
