
The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Director General, Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, joined as a delegate in the UTP-PHILIPPINES Industry Partners Roundtable on February 12, 2025 at the Embassy of Malaysia in Makati City, Philippines. The event was organized by the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) to introduce the University to the Philippines and strengthen its collaborations with academic institutions and local industries.
The roundtable session commenced with welcome remarks from the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines, H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, and the UTP Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib. The UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Commercialisation, Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. M. Fadzil Hassan, also provided an introduction about the University for the esteemed guests and delegates.
During the roundtable, Prof. Dr. Dhameja participated in discussions on topics such as technology in the halal industry, energy security and transition, and other related topics. The event also highlighted UTP’s signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Adamson University, and Davao del Sur State College, which are both significant milestones towards future collaborations in research, innovation, and academic dialogues.
UTP is a private university in Bandar Seri Iskandar, Perak, Malaysia, under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, the national oil and gas company of Malaysia. The University offers a wide range of industry-relevant engineering, science and technology programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
CPSC is exploring the possibility of joint conduct of regional programs with UTP in Malaysia and also bringing UTP on board for APACC accreditation.
