The PSS Central Institute of Vocational Education (PSSCIVE) invited CPSC’s Director General, Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, as a Keynote Speaker to the National Webinar on “Repositioning TVET Post Covid 19: New Approaches and Solutions”. This event was conducted on July 6, 2020 via Zoom virtual meeting.

The National Seminar recognizes CPSC’s valuable contribution to the development and promotion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in India and the Asia-Pacific region. It also recognizes its role as a clearinghouse of TVET information, especially at this time in which online platforms are recognized as a viable alternative to face-to-face meetings in light of the social distancing measures implemented globally.

The National Webinar was envisioned to be a platform to discuss the challenges of repositioning TVET for skilling people. It was also organized to showcase the efforts and initiatives undertaken by various organisations in preparing the youth for the future. It also tackled the professional development of TVET teachers in the context of the post-Covid 19 scenario.

Dr. Lamichhane’s presentation, entitled “TVET in the Context of COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities”, he discussed the overall impact of COVID-19 in TVET, the challenges and opportunities for TVET in light of this global problem, initiatives by different countries in managing online classes, and the recommendations on implementing online learning through various platforms.

Coinciding with PSSCIVE’s 27th Foundation Day, the National Webinar also featured distinguished speakers from various organizations and institutions. It was able to reach a very wide audience with around 1,054 participants, and was covered by a major newspaper in India.
