The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) hosted 13 engineers affiliated with the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) for a four-day Customized Training Program on Results-based Project Management in TVET. The program was held from December 9-13, 2019 at the CPSC Headquarters in Manila.

The program was organized to impart the need for project administrators to understand the principles and practice of project management. This would definitely ensure a successful outcome that comes with proper planning and implementation of projects and activities for a specified goal.

The program was supervised by Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, CPSC Director General and coordinated by Ms. Therese Tan Lee, CPSC Faculty Specialist. Dr. Vijay Patil, CPSC Seconded Faculty Consultant, also took over some supervisory duties on behalf of Dr. Lamichhane who was on official assignment overseas for the whole duration of the program.

Topics and group activities included in the program include the stakeholders’ analysis, drafting the problem, objective and solution trees, the project logical framework and creating a sample project evaluation instrument. They were also able to visit development organizations such as the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST), ASA Philippines Foundation and World Vision Philippines to further demonstrate the actual application of project management tools and techniques in real-life work.

In addition, a visit to the Concepcion Vocational School in the province of Tarlac was organized on December 13, 2019 for the participants to be able to learn the TVET management of an institution awarded with a Gold-level certification by the Asia-Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).
