H.E. Maj. Gen. John Gomes, psc (Retd.), Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Philippines and Governing Board Member of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) visited CPSC on September 2, 2013. CPSC Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub led the faculty members composed of Dr. Hazrat Hussain and Dr. Godelyn Hisole in welcoming the Ambassador to CPSC.

The visit was His Excellency’s first in CPSC, where he inquired on the programs and services of CPSC for the member countries and his government Bangladesh, in particular. Discussion ensued on the major developments around the world including some exemplary developments in countries that were once undeveloped but managed to upgrade to a more developed status, physically and morally. The Ambassador committed to assisting CPSC on following – up matters which requires the decision of his government.

His Excellency started his career as an army officer in Bangladesh army in 1977 and retired as Major General in the year 2008. He was appointed as Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Philippines in October 2012. He is a graduate of the prestigious Defence Services Command and Staff College, Dhaka. He acquired his Master of Defence Studies from National University of Bangladesh and MBA from Institute of Resource Management.
