Recognizing cybersecurity as a fundamental enabler of sustainable development, the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) conducted its International Webinar on “From Skills to Security: Empowering TVET Through Cyber Capacity Building” on October 9, 2025 via Zoom platform and Facebook livestream. A total of 125 participants joined the webinar and gained insights on how cybersecurity strengthens digital trust, workforce readiness, and institutional resilience in the age of the Fifth Industrial Revolution.

Before the sessions started, CPSC Director General Prof. (Dr.) Suresh K. Dhameja welcomed the participants and commended the invited resource speakers for their contributions to this timely discussion. He emphasized that the webinar reflects the growing importance of TVET in present world demands.

“TVET is gaining ground globally,” Prof. Dr. Dhameja noted. “Those with hands-on skills can thrive anywhere through employment or entrepreneurship. As education systems become more digitized, building cyber capacity is essential to ensure safe and sustainable digital transformation.”

Furthermore, during the session on “Practical Cybersecurity for TVET Institutions and Educators,” led by Dr. Semi Yulianto, DIT, DCS, CISSP, Founder and CEO of PT. Sytech Global Informassi (SGI Asia), he outlined key measures to safeguard institutions against phishing, ransomware, and data breaches, and emphasized the need to embed cybersecurity awareness into TVET programs to nurture a digitally responsible and resilient workforce.

Meanwhile, Mr. John Patrick Lita, Chief Executive Officer of Soros Security Inc., Philippines, discussed “Digital Identity Protection and Workforce Cyber Resilience” where he talked about the crucial role of protecting digital identities, practicing ethical online conduct, and implementing data governance to strengthen cyber awareness and resilience in the workplace.

Both sessions were followed by a question-and-answer (Q&A) forum moderated by Ms. Arlene Raymundo-Monge, CPSC Research, Publications, and Information Division (RPID) Officer. The webinar then concluded on a positive note, in hopes of creating a secure, inclusive, and future-ready TVET system aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
