Organized with the theme “Resilient TVET in VUCA World: Towards the Needs of Global Development”, the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia was able to successfully convene TVET educations online for the 8th World Conference on TVET. The workshop was held on December 7, 2022 through Zoom. The Colombo Plan Staff College was one of the partners for this event. The workshop was organized to “serve as a platform for discussion, dissemination and sharing of contemporary research and scientific knowledge for the field of TVET.

The workshop proper was formally inaugurated on December 7, 2022. Distinguished guests such as Prof. Ts. Abdul Rasid Abdul Razzaq, Dean of the Faculty of the TVET in UTHM, formally welcomed the attendees to this online event. He also mentioned the need for researchers to convene towards a common goal and the need to face the challenges of a “volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) world that is becoming apparent in the recent months.

Similarly, the Director General, Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, delivered a special session that tackles :TVET Educators for Global Development”. He was able to discuss the relevance that TVET educators play in the future development of the world by emphasizing the need to gain relevant skills that can be mutually recognized across borders.

Organized for a span of two day, the workshop held on December 7th and the subsequent paper presentation held in December 13th -14th will be able to convene researchers and educators to tackle different topics and participate in four workshops namely: (1) Curating e-portfolio for foster meaningful learning; (2) Designing rubric for alternative assessment; (3) Empowering community with sustainable skills and (4) Educating learners in TVET hospitality.

In addition, distinguished researchers from CPSC member countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines were able to participate in the event.
