Last June 6, 2023, CPSC Director General, Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, together with the CPSC Executive Secretary, Mr. Jan Michael Marasigan, conducted a courtesy visit to the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila to formally welcome and extend CPSC’s commitment of support to the newly appointed Malaysian Ambassador, H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino. The visit was also conducted to brief the new Ambassador of his appointment as a member of the CPSC Governing Board, apprise him of the CPSC-Malaysia relations, and update him on the recent training activities and upcoming programs for Malaysia. Along with Amb. Castelino, the CPSC delegation also met with Mr. Mohd Fareed Bin Zaria, Deputy Chief of Mission/Minister Counselor, Embassy of Malaysia in Manila.

The Director General expressed his appreciation to the Government of Malaysia especially to the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE) - Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) through the Embassy for their continued support and commitment to CPSC’s programs and activities. In addition, the Director General also presented some of the plans of CPSC for its member countries, especially for Malaysia in the upcoming fiscal year. The highlight of this is the projects and activities in line with the celebration of CPSC’s 50th founding anniversary.

Moreover, the courtesy visit also resulted in a discussion of future collaborative programs involving the Embassy and its partners in Malaysia, e.g. Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) and here in the Philippines, e.g. the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Lastly, Prof. Wickramasinghe also informed the Ambassador of APACC activities and the APACC accreditation status of TVET institutions in Malaysia.
