In line with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in the Philippines and the gradual resumption of face-to-face meetings, the CPSC Governing Board Meeting was convened physically after two consecutive years of being organized through online meeting platforms.

Held on June 28, 2022, at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City, the Governing Board’s 113th Session was attended by the Heads of Missions of Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, with the representative from the United Nations and International Organizations-Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA-UNIO)-Philippines. The Head of Mission of Thailand, as well as the representative of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) of the Philippines, attended the proceedings virtually via Zoom. Observers from Embassies, DFA-UNIO, as well as from the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) in Thailand also attended the meeting in person and online.

The Board Members discussed key management activities such as the CPSC Yearly Plan of Operations and Operational Budget for FY 2022-2023, and other routine management activities. In addition, they were able to give their consent on key decisions such as the increase in the budget allocation for programs in anticipation of the resumption of face-to-face implementation in CPSC’s programs and activities, as well as the changes in some of the norms and policies. They also adopted the minutes of the 112th Meeting held in January 2022 and noted on the achievements and highlights of CPSC’s operations for FY 2021-2022.

The meeting also facilitated the turnover of the Governing Board Chairmanship and Vice-Chairmanship for FY 2022-2023 to H.E. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad Kazi, Ambassador of Pakistan and H.E. Betty Palaso, Ambassador of Papua New Guinea, respectively. The Governing Board also recognized the contributions of the outgoing Chairperson, Hon. Aung Kyaw Oo, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Myanmar, during the recently-concluded FY 2021-2022.
