Upon invitation of the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn – Malaysia (UTHM), the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub visited UTHM and met several high ranking officials from UTHM, Department of Polytechnic Education, and Nilai Polytechnic on March 8, 2013. The meeting was held at the UTHM Business Center, Bangi, Selangor, Malaysia.

The DG and UTHM representatives mainly discussed areas for collaboration to turn into action the Memorandum of Understanding signed between CPSC and UTHM in October 2011.

Areas explored include possible contribution of UTHM to the ongoing CPSC project on Skills Development for Poverty Alleviation, tapping of UTHM lecturers as accreditors of the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) in Malaysia, collaboration in conferences/seminars, joint international research on TVET in Asia Pacific and joint publications. On capacity building of human resources, the parties discussed about possible staff exchange, internship of UTHM staff and lecturers at CPSC, and finishing school program for students of UTHM as an effort to internationalize UTHM.

Dr. Naim and the UTHM representatives are optimistic that any of the above implementation strategies will materialize within the year 2013.
