BACKGROUND

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become a critical enabler of economic growth, workforce competitiveness, and sustainable development over the Asia-Pacific countries. As industries continue to evolve in response to digital transformation, green transitions, and emerging technologies, TVET institutions are expected to produce highly skilled graduates who are responsive to the changing demands of the labor market. However, despite significant advancements in quality assurance, curriculum innovation, and industry partnerships, many TVET institutions continue to face persistent challenges in public perception and institutional recognition.

Across many countries, TVET is still perceived as a secondary educational pathway compared to traditional academic education. These misconceptions often influence learners' career choices, parents' decisions, employer confidence, and policy support. In an increasingly competitive education landscape, TVET institutions must go beyond delivering quality education; they must effectively communicate their value proposition, demonstrate their impact, and establish a strong institutional identity that earns the trust of learners, industries, governments, and society.

Managing the TVET brand is therefore no longer limited to marketing or promotional activities. It is a strategic leadership function that encompasses institutional identity, reputation management, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, digital presence, and organizational culture. A well-managed institutional brand reflects the institution's commitment to excellence, innovation, employability, and responsiveness to industry needs while strengthening public confidence and enhancing institutional sustainability.

For the 16 member countries of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), strengthening institutional branding presents a strategic opportunity to elevate the profile of TVET across the region. As governments continue to pursue TVET reforms, internationalization, and stronger industry linkages, effective brand management can support learner attraction, employer confidence, strategic partnerships, and regional collaboration.
This webinar provides a platform for TVET leaders, policymakers, communication practitioners, and institutional development experts to exchange knowledge and good practices on managing institutional brands in the TVET sector. Through discussions on strategic positioning, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management, participants will gain practical insights into strengthening the visibility, credibility, and long-term sustainability of their institutions.

FOCUS OF THE WEBINAR

This webinar examines the strategic role of brand management in strengthening the reputation, visibility, and competitiveness of TVET institutions through effective leadership, stakeholder engagement, and institutional positioning.

SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth - promoting public confidence in TVET to develop a skilled and employable workforce that responds to evolving labor market needs.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure - fostering stronger collaboration between TVET institutions and industry through strategic positioning and institutional partnerships.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals - encouraging collaboration among governments, industries, development partners, and educational institutions to strengthen TVET systems and institutional sustainability.

Discussions will explore key themes such as institutional identity, brand management, reputation building, strategic communication, digital engagement, employer and industry perceptions, stakeholder experience, and the role of leadership in positioning TVET institutions for long-term success.
