Introduction

The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is expected to play two crucial roles of providing training opportunities and providing the skilled manpower for sustainable development. There is necessity of improvement in three main issues relevance, effectiveness and efficiency of TVET system. TVET qualifications do not solely guarantee economic freedom. Therefore it is required to devise certain strategies which could lessen the cut throat competition and thereby keep TVET sector attractive, productive as well as relevant.

Blue Ocean Strategy is the recent concept to visualize the ideas and manage the organization and is about creating uncontested market space, making the rivals irrelevant rather than competing with them and conveying the infinite possibilities for profitable growth. The labour market, being the major player in TVET, needs to be aware of new trends to come in the future and thereby the changes taking place in future. It also needs to adjust and respond to the emerging situation. This course is designed to help the participants to identify the different strategies which could be applied in TVET systems which will enable it to survive and grow. This training course includes concept of blue ocean strategy, application of blue ocean strategy to manage TVET Institute, direct and indirect analysis of stakeholders and development of action plan for the institute.



Objectives

The objectives of the Program are to:

  • Comprehend the concept, principles and components of Blue Ocean Strategy
  • Understand the application of Blue Ocean Strategy in TVET
  • Understand organizational systems and policies for management of TVET Institution
  • Prepare an Action Plan for implementation of Blue Ocean Strategy for their respective institutions

The main contents of the program are:

  • Delivery and Presentation of theme papers on Blue Ocean Strategy : Concepts, Principles and importance, application of blue Ocean Strategy in TVET program curriculum, application of blue Ocean Strategy in industry institute linkages, relevance of blue Ocean Strategy with post training aspects like employment, entrepreneurship, Accreditation and Certification of TVET Institutions through APACC process, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Labour Market Information System (LMIS) as Blue Ocean Strategy and other related topics.
  • National seminar on, “Blue ocean Strategy for National Development”
  • Study visits
  • Icebreakers and mind-relaxing games
  • Special Lecture, Case studies, role playing, Group Tasks and presentations by the participants.
