In its continuing efforts to ensure provision of quality TVET systems in the region, the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) carried out another on-site visit at the Regional Training Center – Korea – Philippines Vocational Training Center, Davao (KorPhil Davao) on April 29 – 30, 2013. This 2-day reaccreditation activity was undertaken by Team Leader Dr. Hazrat Hussain, CPSC Faculty Consultant and Dr. Romulita Alto, Former Faculty Consultant as Team Member. The accreditors validated KorPhil Davao’s Self Study Report and gathered evidences during the on-site revisit.


Established through a Memorandum of Agreement between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Korea on June 23, 2003, KorPhil Davao began its operations on March 8, 2005. KorPhil Davao envisions becoming the leading Agricultural Mechanization Technology institute in the Philippines and in ASEAN region. The center strives to develop internationally competitive workers with prime focus on Agriculture-based Technology. KorPhil Davao currently offers 39 TVET courses in the following training cluster areas: Agri Machineries Maintenance and Repair, Hotel and Restaurant Services, Food Processing Automobile Maintenance and Repair, Industrial Automation and Mechatronics, Information Processing, Mechanical Processing, Modern Manufacturing Technology, Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning, Welding and Pipefitting, Civil Technology. The center also offers trainings in the following specialized areas: Assessors Methodology, Trainers Methodology and Korean Language.

TESDA Region XI Director Gaspar S. Gayona, Ph.D, TESDA Davao City/Sur Provincial Director Engr. Nestor S. Tabada and Center Administrator Mr. Egmedio O. Valdez led the faculty and staff members in welcoming the APACC team of accreditors. KorPhil Davao was reassessed according to the seven APACC accreditation criteria, i.e. Governance and Management; Teaching and Learning; Faculty and Staff; Research and Development; Extension, Consultancy and Linkages; Resources; and Support to Students. Formal evaluation of the on-site revisit will be communicated to KorPhil Davao after approval from the APACC Board.
