The Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) is conducting a customized program on "Integrating ICT Practices for Teaching and Learning System" for the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) from November 03 to 14, 2008.
The course officially began with an inaugural ceremony held on November 03, 2008 with the honorable presence of the Counsellor of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Philippines, Mr. Sirimewan Dawulagala.
On SLIATE's request, CPSC designed this customized program to sharpen the knowledge and experience of 22 SLIATE academic staff in implementing e-learning methods for their current curriculum that will advance their current learning process systems. Specifically, the course aims to explain basic concepts of ICT-based education and training, discover different e-learning building blocks, integrate ICT in Education and Training, and develop an interactive Web-Based Teaching and Learning Materials.
SLIATE is a statutory body under the Ministry of Higher Education with a mission of creating higher national diplomats competent in modern technology for sustainable development.
CPSC is using the blended learning approach to effectively train the participants in the form of special lectures, theme paper presentations, study and field visits, tasks and hands-on computer sessions.
Dr. Shyamal Majumdar, Director General is the Course Supervisor. Mr. Michael Henry Montero, ICT Officer is the Course Coordinator and Resource Person. Roster of resource persons include Prof. TJ Tesoro Gayondato, Project and Consultancy Chairman and Specialist; Mr. Felix Sibal, Multimedia Developer; Mr. Cyrus Christian Almero, Multimedia Developer, and Mr. Aldrich Mejia, Information Systems Assistant.
Invited to speak on their own fields of specialization, guest speakers were also invited namely Dr. Serafin D. Talisayon, Director for R&D and Knowledge Innovation Expert, Center for Conscious Living Foundation Inc. (CCLFI); and Ms. Debbi Lacuesta, Head of Research and Development, SEAMEO INNOTECH.
