CPSC Hosts Institutional Visits of Delegation from Mongolia and Bhutan

On the request of the Technical Technological College of Mongolia and the MoLHR of Butan, CPSC facilitated successful educational and exposure visits in Manila, Philippines in December 2009 with the major aim of promoting the Philippines’ strengths in TVET system implementation and showcase best practices in the country.

To foster and explore venue for learning various innovations and best practices in the TVET sector from regional and national perspectives particularly that of the Philippines’, the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) hosted the visits of six Officials from the Technical and Technological College (TTC) Mongolia headed by its Principal, Mr. Emeeljigjid Namsrai, from December 14 – 16, 2009. TTC is a private Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) school in Mongolia.

 

Likewise, two Program Officers from the Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR) of the Kingdom of Bhutan visited CPSC and nine other institutions in the Philippines on December 15-19, 2009 with the purpose of exploring possible trainers and training providers for certain training fields in Construction, Education, Hospitality, Production, and IT and Media Sectors. The Ministry aims to train and upgrade existing skills of private sector employees through customized skill-oriented training based on identified training needs and to impart skills to school leavers/unemployed youth through customized skill-oriented training to increase their employability in the private sector.

Institutions visited aside from CPSC included: the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Women’s Center, TESDA Language Skills Institute, University of the Philippines – Film Institute, Gokongwei Brothers Foundation – Technical Training Center, Department of Science and Technology - Packaging R&D Center of the Philippines, Dualtech Training Center, MFI Foundation, Inc., Philippine Center for Creative Imaging, and the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts.

The visits provided opportunities of close collaboration and networking with TVET organizations in the Philippines and are hoped to impact on the development and implementation of TVET and new projects in Mongolia and the Kingdom of Bhutan with facilitation and support of CPSC.

Dr. Rajesh Khambayat, CPSC Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant, acted as Resource Speaker and Overall Coordinator of the study visits.
