102 attend CPSC-NITTR’s International Seminar on ICT for Education and Training, in India

The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai, India organized an International Seminar on ICT for Education and Training on December 21, 2012 at the NITTTR – Chennai. The international seminar, attended by 102 participants (29 females, 73 males) was held in conjunction with the In-Country Program on Web-Based Teaching and Learning System (see related story: CPSC and NITTTR Chennai Teams Up for In-Country Program on Web-based Teaching and Learning System in India).

The seminar aimed to: update insights for policy makers, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) providers and educators on the latest innovative teaching and learning practices to enhance student development; provide platform for exchange of ideas and experiences on ICT-pedagogy integration; and facilitate dialogue among key players on the directions towards effective and innovative use of ICT in education.

The opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. A. Kalanidhi, Vice Chairman, Commonwealth Science and Technology & Former Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, Chennai; Prof. Dr. S. Mohan, Director, NITTTR – Chennai, and Dr. Naim Yaakub, Director General, CPSC.

The CPSC team led by the Director General, with the Faculty Specialist Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, and ICT Officer Mr. Felix Sibal presented a paper on Web-Based Media Resourced for Teaching and Learning System.

Mohammed Sadiq, Sr. Vice President, AEL Data Services LLP, Chennai (Shaping the future of Education & Training with ICT: Current Developments and Future Challenges).

Dr. Ajit Kumar Kolar, Chairman, Centre for Continuing Education, IIT Madras, Chennai addressed the Valedictory Function.
