The Colombo Plan Staff College, in cooperation with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), organized a program on "e—Learning Materials Development and Use of Online Training Delivery Platforms" at the TESDA Headquarters in Taguig City, Philippines from January 18 to 22, 2016. It involved the participation of 36 staff members from TESDA regional offices.
This In-Country Program provided an opportunity for the participants to learn about the different innovative web-enabled ICT practices available, assisted the participants to gain practical experience of using the E-learning authoring tools, software and technologies and learn how to make E-Teaching and Learning systems effectively learner-centered. The program was designed in recognition of the fact that education systems around the world is experiencing major paradigm shifts in educational practices under the umbrella of ICT enabled learning environment. Numerous technological innovations have inspired the development of new teaching and learning systems and contextualizing content. These add value to the learning environment and render smooth transition to a knowledge-based society.
The program aimed to explain basic concepts of ICT based education and training. It also sought to discover different E-learning building blocks and apply the emerging trends in E-learning in their respective institutions. The participants were able to develop their own media E-learning resource and customize their own learning management system that they can utilize in their institutions.
Themes tackled include: web-based learning resource, digital photography for teaching and learning, creating rich media content, content development with Rapid e-learning software and learning management system using Moodle.
Overall supervision was provided by Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, CPSC Acting Director General in cooperation with Sec. Irene Isaac TESDA Director General and Atty. Teodoro Pascua (Deputy Director General for TESD Operations). Local coordination was facilitated by Ms. Maria Susan dela Rama, Executive Director of the e-TESDA unit.
Technical expertise was provided by Mr. Shafiek Sultan, Regional Marketing Manager for Asia Labtech, Inc.. Furthermore, the former CPSC Director General, Dr. Man-Gon Park, also attended the program and imparted some of his knowledge on the development of online-learning platforms.
