Recognizing the importance of TVET as a tool for economic growth and enhancing technological development, the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC), in partnership with the Human Resources Service of Korea (HRDKorea) conducts a Regional Program on Reorienting TVET System for the Global Economy, held from October 13 to 21, 2011 at the Seoul Institute of Vocational Training in Advance Technology (SIVAT), Incheon, Korea.
Nineteen (19) participants comprised of directors, administrators, senior faculty, program coordinators, supervisors, senior policy makers from 14 CPSC member countries including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Fiji, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand, attended the program.
Various lectures on innovative approaches in reorienting TVET for the global economy was delivered during the program, which aimed to consistently stimulate efforts and participation in discussions on TVET development and build awareness and information on emerging issues and cooperation frameworks for reorienting TVET system for the global economy.
During the program's inaugural ceremony CPSC Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, expressed his sincerest appreciation to all the program delegates. He also conveyed his deep gratitude to HRDKorea for its continuous cooperation with CPSC in all its undertakings and wished for a stronger partnership in the coming years.
Mr. Jung Il Sung, Vice President, HRDKorea also graced the inaugural ceremony, together with Ms. Heesook Choi, Acting Director General, HRDKorea International Cooperation Team, and SIVAT Director Mr. Byung Gie Choi.
Prof. Rajesh P. Khambayat, Ph.D., CPSC Faculty Consultant, who acted as key Resource Person and overall Program Coordinator, delivered the program orientation right after the inaugural ceremony. Other resource persons who shared their expertise and delivered lectures related to the theme were Prof. Chan Lee, Assistant Professor, Seoul National University; Dr. Cheol Hee Kim, Research Fellow/Director, Center for International Cooperation, Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training; HRDKorea’s Acting DG Ms. Choi, and Prof. TJ Tesoro Gayondato, Manager, Projects and Consultancy Division, CPSC, as Cyber Lecturer; and Ms. Misook Lee, Manager, HRDKorea International Cooperation Team, who acted as Local Coordinator of the program. The program received positive and encouraging feedback and achieved overall rating of 99.24%.
