SEAMEO VOCTECH and CPSC implements its mutual agreement for resource sharing as CPSC faculty member, Prof. TJ Tesoro Gayondato conducted lectures and experiential learning on five (5) topics during the Customized Course on Effective Teaching and Assessment. The ten-day workshop was attended by 20 vocational and technical subject teachers and was aimed at helping develop SPN-21, the nation's 21st Century Education system.
The program was held on November 14-24, 2011 at the SEAMEO VOCTECH training center at the capital city Bandar Seri Begawan of Brunei Darussalam. Prof. TJ’s sessions covered (1) The New Science of Teaching and Learning; (2) Pedagogy or the Process of Teaching for the 21st century; (3) Competency Based Perspectives in Teaching and Assessment (4) Generic Skills and Whole Brain Learning for Holistic Development and Applying Higher Order Thinking (HOT) Tools and Techniques in Evaluation. Various techniques of implementing structured learning exercises and group tasks added to the vibrant sessions of the group. Several concepts of effective teaching and assessment were not only discussed but practiced during the training program through various exercises which reinforced the participant’s understanding of problem-based learning, project based learning, multi-modal learning, student-centered learning and others.
Mr. Saiful Anuar A Rahim acted as the Program Coordinator while the other SEAMEO-VOCTECH resource persons were Dr. Paryano, Mr. Edward de la Rosa and Mr. Benjamin Cuito.
SEAMEO VOCTECH Director Alias Hj Abu Bakar expressed his sincere thanks to CPSC for having immediately implemented their renewed agreement which was signed between CPSC Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub and himself last September 12, 2011.
