CPSC Governing Board (GB) convenes 93rd Meeting

The GB of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) convened its 93rd session on June 21, 2012 at the CPSC Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. The Board took up seven agenda which included Actions Taken since Last GB Meeting, Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2011–2012, Proposed Operational Plan and Budget for Fiscal Year 2012–2013, the Biennial Report for submission to the 43rd Colombo Plan Consultative Committee Meeting, and the Election and Turnover of Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship of the GB.

The meeting was presided by H.E. Aung Khin Soe, Chairman of the CPSC GB and Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Philippines and was co-chaired by H.E. Mohsin Razi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Philippines. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador for Bangladesh, Ambassador for Papua New Guinea, Director-General of CPSC, and Representatives of Ambassadors for Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The Philippines, as host country, was represented by TESDA and DFA - UNIO.

CPSC Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub reported the progress made by CPSC for Fiscal Year 2011–2012 for the period from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 where he emphasized the conduct of In-Country Programs, Regional Programs, Special Programs, Customized Programs, Internship Programs, Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) Accreditation Activities, and Skills Development for Poverty Alleviation Program. He also gave an overview of the operational achievements of CPSC and highlighted the various academic and administrative impacts of CPSC's programs at the country, regional and global levels. Areas covered by the report were governance and management, membership management, external relations and partnership, training and development, projects and consultancy development, research and knowledge building, information and knowledge sharing, ICT and multimedia development, building and facilities improvement and CPSC's financial report.

The election and turnover of leadership took place as the last agendum of the meeting. The CPSC Director General explained that CPSC elects the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board on rotational basis, following alphabetical order of countries represented. H.E. Mohsin Razi, Ambassador of Pakistan and H.E. Chris Vihruri, Ambassador of Papua New Guinea accepted the Chairmanship and Vice–Chairmanship of the GB, respectively for Fiscal Year 2012–2013. The outgoing Chairman H.E. Aung Khin Soe was presented a Plaque of Recognition for his leadership during his term.

The 94th GB Meeting will be held on January 24, 2013, as approved by the Board.
