CPSC Holds 100th Governing Board (GB) Meeting

The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) GB convened its 100th session on January 28, 2016 at the CPSC Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. The Board took up seven agenda items which are composed of: Adoption of the Provisional Agenda, Adoption of the Minutes of the 99th GB Meeting held on June 25, 2015, Summary of Actions Taken based on Board Decisions and Business Arising, Report of External Audit of CPSC's Financial Statements for FY 2014 – 2015, Report of CPSC Activities and Financial Status (Midyear Report for FY 2015 – 2016), Report and Recommendations of the Senior Administrators' Conference (SAC) on the Mid-Term Review of the CPSC Corporate Plan 2013 – 2018 and on Special Concerns and Update on Recruitment of the 11th Director General.

The meeting was spearheaded by H.E. Kok Li Peng, Chairperson of the GB and Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore. It was attended by the Ambassador of India, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ambassador of Sri Lanka, Acting Director General of CPSC, representatives from Embassies of Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand, Director from the Department of Foreign Affairs, Philippines and Deputy Director General of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippines.

Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, Acting Director General reported recent developments and progress of CPSC by providing an overview of the Midyear Report for FY 2015–2016 where he discussed the activities of CPSC which include the implementation of regional programs, in-country programs, customized programs and study visits, international conferences and national seminars, special programs and activities related to the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).

He also discussed the report and recommendations of the Senior Administrators' Conference (SAC) based on the Mid-Term Review of the CPSC Corporate Plan 2013 – 2018. The recommendations on four special concerns namely strengthening CPSC's TVET programs, financial sustainability, strengthening internal capacity and governance, and partnership and networking modalities and thrusts were presented and deliberated by the Board.

The 101st GB Meeting will be held on June 23, 2016, as decided by the Board.
