Delegation from CPSC visits Liaison Officer in Bhutan

With the objective of keeping member countries in the loop on the latest activities of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) and concurrent Acting President of the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel accompanied by Prof. Dr. S.K. Dhameja, CPSC Former Faculty Consultant paid a visit to Ms. Nima Ome, Director General, Department of SAARC & Regional Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thimphu, Bhutan and CPSC Liaison Officer (LO) of Bhutan on October 7, 2015. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kinley Wangdi, Director, Department of Human Resources, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR), Bhutan.

The OIC briefed the LO on the then ongoing one-week In-Country Program on “Entrepreneurship and Management in TVET” and National Seminar on “Entrepreneurship Education in TVET Sector of Bhutan”, both coordinated by Dr. Dhameja. The programs were attended by 30 teachers/instructors from different TVET institutions and MoLHR officials from October 5 – 9, 2015. He also briefed her about the current activities of CPSC and APACC.

The OIC further discussed what transpired during the meeting with Honorable Prime Minister of Bhutan His Excellency Mr. Tshering Tobgay in which the OIC requested the Prime Minister regarding recommendation of professional staff and/or intern from Bhutan to serve at CPSC, APACC accreditation of TVET institutions in Bhutan, and conducting customized programs for Bhutan TVET officials (See related story: He then requested the LO in making these initiatives a reality through facilitating follow-up with relevant ministries and organizations in Bhutan.

Ms. Ome appreciated the initiatives taken by CPSC under the officership of Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel and promised to actively pursue the matters in this regard. The OIC thanked the LO for her assurances and concluded the meeting by inviting her to the forthcoming Senior Administrators’ Conference (SAC) in December 2015 at the CPSC headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
