On September 18, 2013, the CPSC Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, along with Faculty Consultant, Dr. Hazrat Hussain, made a courtesy call on the Ambassador H.E. Abdullah Al Hassan at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in Manila, Philippines.
The Director General explained the purpose and role of CPSC, an inter-governmental organization, in the development of TVET systems in the Asia and the Pacific region and the services it has rendered. Witnessing the growing importance that the Kingdom attached to the TVET system in the development of their human resources, Dr. Naim expressed his intention to work with the TVET system of KSA. This is in line with the objective of extending CPSC’s services to other governments in the region, as guided by the new 5-year Corporate Plan 2013 – 2018 formulated by representatives from all the member governments. Dr. Naim explored the possibility of Saudi Arabia joining the Colombo Plan Staff College in order to work collaboratively for the development of TVET system in KSA at this important stage.
The Ambassador took keen interest and took the proposal of the CPSC DG positively and affirmed his endorsement on future discussions with the relevant agency in KSA, namely Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) regarding the matter.
